This is a vintage Oleograph, a technique invented in Victorian times of overpainting a print with a fair bit of skill to make it look like an oil painting. This is a particularly good version probably later than Victorian times by the condition of the canvas and certainly in a modern hand painted distressed frame. It really is a very beautiful image and looks for much like an original oil but at a fraction of the price of course. The painting image is 29.5cms x 39.5cms and the size to the edge of the frame is 43cms x 53cms. I would say it date from the 1980s judging by condition and the frame style. It really is a very beautiful image with wonderful light.
