Fabulous example of a Royal Doulton Kettle, The Old Sarum Kettle made for Watsons of Salisbury (formerly known as Sarum).
The Doulton ‘Old Sarum Kettle’ was produced for Watsons of Salisbury between 1889 – 1921. Watsons was one of Salisbury’s longest-running general stores and was owned by the same family for four generations having been established in 1834. It also occupied one of the oldest buildings on Queen Street which dated back to 1306.
On the base is written: “The Old Sarum Kettle made by Doulton only for Watson & Co. Salisbury”. The kettle which is made of earthenware is approx 24cms high and 20cms from spout to handle. It has a metal overlay on the spout to protect it. It’s in good condition with no damage.
